Sewage/Ejector Pumps
Sewage/ejector pumps are much like sump pumps, but designed for a different purpose. Sump pumps are intended to handle ground water; to pump it out, of basements for instance, and deliver the unwanted water to the appropriate drain. Sewage/ejector pumps do the same thing for sewage.
The most obvious place that a residential property needs a sewage/ejector pump system is for basement bathrooms where the main sewage line in the home exists the property above some of the plumbing fixtures. The pump is installed in an ejector/sewage pit, which collects the sewage from the below grade plumbing fixtures. Once a certain level is reach in the pit, the sewage pump float activates.
An Ejector/Sewage pump is installed in an Ejector/Sewage pit, the sewage from a bathroom or other plumbing fixture enters the pit, once a certain level in the pit is filled the sewage pump float switch activates the pump and the pump grinds the waste and discharges it to an adequate drain. These pumps work just like a sump pump, however they are designed to handle sewage where as a sump pump handles ground water.
Ejector/Sewage pumps are used when the main sewer line in property exits the home above some of or all of the plumbing fixtures. Some homes in this area will need to have an Ejector/Sewage pump installed for basement bathrooms.
